I'm not really sure exactly what falls under the definition of an 'addon'. For example using TS or Vent is perhaps an addon, but if voice-chat is already in the game, does that voicechat also count as an addon? If the game already has a function to display fps, does that count as an addon if some other program can do the same?

I really don't know what kind of academical value this kind of survey is going to have.

The universal acceptance of "addons" in MMOs is a custom made UI change and/or game modification (also known as a "mod").

-Guild Wiki is a Wikipedia page dedicated to the Guild Wars franchise.
-Ventrilo and Teamspeak are voice applications.
-EotN is an expansion pack.

To clarify some of your questions, and answer to your comments.
I use yes and no to the questions as I don't want deeper answers to this small part of the paper, since I have to consider very limited time. You are only required to answer the first 3 questions - so if you do not have an answer to some of the other questions because you do not play the game it refers to - you simply don't answer.

Ventrilo and TS are not addons. They are programs which functions by themselves. TS Overlay is an addon to Team Speak which functions in games - but is not an addon to the game.

I have chosen to look at Guild Wars and MU Online because theese games have very few to no addons. Only cosmetic to GW right?
I have chosen WoW because this is the game with most addons yet. They have clearly chosen to be very open towards addons allready in the design state.

To clarify:
An addon is additional elements or features made for a game or a program which functions without such additionals. Anything that comes with the game as you install it - or which are updates made by the game developers are not addons.
3rd party programs are programs that runs next to the game, theese are not addons.
Mods go a step further than ordinary addons as theese are changes to the game itself. For instance have NWN2 released a DVD with mods made by players - worlds which functions as games by themselves.
